New Children's Book Reveals What Is More Fun Than a Messy Room

League City, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/11/2014 -- Sybrina Durant has just released her new children’s book, “Yarashell Abbily and Her Very Messy Room”. It is a 36-page book written in sing-song verse, filled with delightful illustrations by Sara Wilson. The book is available now on Amazon for Kindle and in paperback.

Yarashell Abbily is a three-year-old girl who loves playing in her room surrounded by all her stuff, clothes and shoes and toys on the bed and on the floor, spending hours imagining wonderful things. The problem is Mom has a different view. Mom thinks it is a very messy room and Yarashell needs to clean it up. The little girl believes her messy room is beautiful and doesn’t understand why Mom wants to change it. The book is an enjoyable family read about how Mom enlists Dad’s help in showing the messy room girl that cleaning it up has rewards that can be even more fun. ….

Hi!

I'm Sybrina.

Once upon a time I wanted to be a writer more than anything in the world. I could tell stories with the best of them, so I just knew I could write well, too.

Funny thing about writing, though...it's nothing like telling a story. I bet you've noticed that, too. I'd even go as far as to bet there have been times...plenty of them, when you've been writing along just fine, then suddenly, you hit a brick wall over how to describe the simplest thing.

25 years ago, there wasn't anything much available other than Webster's Dictionary or Roget's Thesaurus and a couple of synonym and antonym books. So, I decided I'd start to put together what I was looking for, myself.

Those were the prehistoric days, before p.c.'s. Each bit of information I gathered was tediously placed behind index tabs in spiral notebooks...lots of notebooks and tons of tabs. It very quickly became a monstrous task.…….Read More

Interview by Carlana

What is the book about?

The book is about a delightful little girl who wakes up joyfully each day. She sets about getting herself dressed and ready for the day. In the process, she pulls most everything out of her dresser drawers and closet, tossing them this way and that. They all land in unique configurations about the room, creating a fantastic wonderland in her imagination. Through it all, she discusses her creations with her best friend…her doll, who encourages her handi-work to be even better. As you might imagine, when Mommy appears upon the scene, all she sees is a mess! A battle of wills ensues. Finally, in frustration Daddy arrives with a brilliant idea. To end the confrontation, he suggests a game…Yarashell’s favorite. The thought of winning is exactly what is needed to turn her attention to the task at hand…cleaning up her room.

What inspired you to write the book?

I had the cutest inspiration that you can possibly imagine. Years ago, I was having a conversation with one of my granddaughters, who was 3 years old at the time. I asked her, “What is your very favorite thing in the world to do?” She looked at me very seriously for a moment and then a huge grin broke out on her face. With great enthusiasm, she answered, “I like to mess up my room!”

This book is made to be read to the average three- or four-year-old, especially those who are in the "messy room" stage. It helps when the author dedicates the book to her four granddaughters, who each had a messy room when they were Yarashell's age. Yes, this book is really worth the money. ...

A Creative Way To Inspire Young Ones To Clean Up Their Rooms

League City, Texas, USA – June 13, 2014— Everyone knows a messy little 3 year old!  Finally, here’s a clean-up idea that makes cleaning as much fun as making a room messy in the first place.  Read about it in the latest children’s book by Author, Sybrina Durant, titled Yarashell Abbily and Her Very Messy Room.

If you are a parent or a grandparent of a toddler or young child, then you are aware of the challenges associated with inspiring them to clean up their rooms. Part of the challenge—is that kids enjoy their very messy room. This could be because they like to see all of their favorite toys out in one place, it is not fun to clean, or because they do not yet understand the benefits of keeping things organized.  Or maybe, they just don’t see it as messy at all.….Read More
