Tween Unicorn Book Feature – The Third Wish (Unicorns of Wish Book 3)

Tween Unicorn Book Feature – The Third Wish (Unicorns of Wish Book 3) by Deby Adair

‘The Third Wish’ is an enthralling stand-alone read or the captivating third book in The Unicorns of Wish series.

Each book in this series can be read as part of the series or on its own. That makes it easy! Read about Rielle and the faithful Pud on their epic journey of discoveries and friendships and revel in this story of ultimate empowerment, majesty and destiny. Be captivated by the world of Wish, the mighty unicorns, the secretive Willful James, the commanding First Ones and the glorious singing walking-wands.

‘The Third Wish’ is a slightly deeper read that carries the reader to a spellbinding, refreshing conclusion. It embodies the depth of imagination that makes fantasy what it should be: entrancing, fun and inviting. A book that can be read again and again and each time it will reveal another gem. Read and loved by young readers and older ones, the age group target is for 12-15 year olds.

Set free from an ages-old jinx, Willful James is granted an offering of unthinkable power. But, when in anger he slights the honour, his stubborn refusal will endanger not only the unicorns but also Rielle and the trusty group who risk all to save Wish and the outside world.

A Couple of Reviews To Help You Choose

Mick G5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Series Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2015

Dream’s Honour is the third and final installment of the Wish series of novels. In this episode we follow Rielle, the unicorns as well as Willful James as they take on the Sorcerer of contempt in order to fight for their land’s future.
Where the previous novels had strong positive emotions this one does possess a harder and darked side. However, due to the confrontations that occur this is a necessary addition and I must say very thoughtfully and well done. I enjoyed the chance to experience the mellowed pauses between action packed episodes as it gave me the chance to ponder what had occurred a tad more thoughtfully. Do not expect what normally happens via Rielle and her search but this book concentrates a great deal on Willful which made for interesting changes of thought and direction.
As is usual the descriptive and colourful characters provide a truly magical read and one every child and adult should enjoy at least once.

After reading book two of this trilogy I knew I had to read the third book and, busy, busy, I finally found the time! Who would have thought that between book one and book three the books would shift and grow to such a degree? This novel grows to embrace an entirely new feeling although it keeps the wonderful characters of the first two books, but in The Third Wish they ‘bloom into their fullness’, shifting with the landscape and the final flow that this very good writer sends them to.

I bought book one, Wish-Dreams Beginning, for my eight year old daughter who has since read it and loved it, then I read Wish Again-Dreams Truth which I fell in love with and which I think my eight year old could also handle, but I think that this book, The Third Wish, might be a little old for her and although she’ll no doubt give it a bash, I think the full brilliance and scale of what the characters explore and feel in this book, will be best suited for readers who are a little older and, to be honest, maybe adults, since they have actually had life and time to experience the over-riding theme of this final book – regret, reparation, autonomy, growth and completion, albeit in a landscape of fantasy, but like book two and book one, still reaching out to our humanity. But wait… there are some really funny bits that not only surprised me but left me giggling like a kid!

Not only is the style of this author very clear – you can picture each moment as if you are there – but she also sends you on a soul-search of your own. I would not recommend reading this book without the other two… not because it isn’t an excellent book as a stand-alone, but because the story really would not be done justice if the reader doesn’t know what came before to truly appreciate the brilliance of where it goes to!

There are books in life that you keep and books that you pass on. I will keep these. They are really beautiful books. Almost mystical, cloaked in misty ‘unicorn’ places and wild landscapes, they reached out and touched me deeply and that’s what, in my opinion, novels are meant to do
