KENT PHILPOT – Making new friends is fun and different can be good!

I read this book while looking for books for my grandkids who are 8 and 6. My granddaughter is 8 and will be able to read this book herself (with a little help on some word definitions). My 6 year old grandson is a bit of a loner and Newman may offer him encouragement to open himself to making some new buddies.

The Newman Tales books are charming, and so much fun! Newman, the rescue pup, is every young child’s friend. All of the books are authored by Lynn F. Austin. Children can instantly connect to Newman’s sense of adventure and enjoy watching him work through familiar problems and solve them in his own way.

The stories are engaging and the pictures delightful. I love this book! It has a good message that is age appropriate and is a very effective social story! Fun and easy to read. The illustrations are wonderful. I highly recommend you purchasing a copy for your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or young students. An absolute great bedtime story!

About The Author

I am a domestic violence survivor and while I rescued Newman, he also rescued me as I learned to trust, love and believe in others, so did he. Newman is my first rescue dog. He was twice rescued, first from the Taiwan meat industry and again, when his adopted family surrendered him to the humane society where he was scheduled to be euthanized. The rescue agency 2DaRescue, picked him up, cared for him and worked with him for a year before I met him. Newman is now living his best life. And despite occasional nightmares and night tremors, you would not know that he was abused to the extent that he was. A portion of the proceeds from all of his books goes to 2DaRescue so that he can give back and help other dogs find their fur-ever home. Vol 3, also based on true accounts, explores him meeting neighborhood dogs and his reaction. Also, we included several puzzles and activities that use words and phrases found in the book.
