Patricia5.0 out of 5 stars (Ms) Robin Hood riding on a unicorn! Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2014Verified Purchase
Stories of heroes fighting for the common person against despots are among my favorites! And if the hero is a heroine riding a unicorn, it’s even better!
Tyana, though young, is a very powerful witch. When commissioned by Merlin (the World President) to try to figure out why members of the magical community have been losing their power, she makes some interesting discoveries. When joined by Marcus, a police detective recently arrived from Earth (no one’s quite sure of how this transfer from Earth works), the investigation really takes off and soon the duo + two magically powerful and intellectually brilliant unicorns set off for a distant land to get to the bottom of the puzzle. On arriving in Europe they make some powerful friends (dragons and shape-shifters) and realize that several despotic monarchs are making life very miserable for their human subjects. Tyana, Marcus, and the unicorns are outraged and determined to do something about it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had tension, mystery, magic, and some wonderful human (and not so human) relations.

Sherri rated it it was amazing · review of another edition I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters. At first in was a bit confusing jumping around from one location to the next, but once I started to get further in, it all made sense. The book is well written and the characters are well developed. It gave a good amount of background information on the characters.
Tyana lives on Refuge. A world where everyone uses magic and from time to time someone from Earth will randomly appear. There have been a number of people who will suddenly lose their magic, and people want to know why. Tyana is about to embark on the journey of a lifetime.
