They talk for a while, and Santa Claus explains who he is and what Christmas is all about. EXCERPTS:

Before the shelter Apollo had been very little so he couldn’t remember very much. But he knew he hadn’t been happy. He hadn’t been loved at all. Then there was the shelter, which was better because there was food every day, and sometimes head scratches.

Apollo was napping by the fireplace, his black fur making him almost invisible against the dark cushion he was sleeping on. He had only recently found his forever home. He had been in the shelter for a very long time and it had been boring there.

At first Apollo hadn’t like the head scratches, because he didn’t like any human touching him, but slowly he had learned that they were quite nice. Then one day, a person had come and spent a long time talking to Apollo and scratching his head.

Inspiration For The Book

The inspiration behind “Santa Claws: A Christmas Tail” stems from my cherished companion of six years, Apollo. I adopted Apollo approximately seven months after the loss of my previous cat, Luna, to cancer. While Apollo’s passing after several years was deeply saddening, I am grateful for the opportunity to have provided him with a loving home.

This book serves as a heartfelt tribute to Apollo’s memory, crafted in a delightful and endearing manner. Through this story, I aim to impart valuable lessons to young readers about the significance of animal welfare and the importance of pet adoption. It is my belief that by working collectively, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of companion animals.

“Santa Claws: A Christmas Tail” not only honors Apollo’s memory but also seeks to inspire a new generation of animal advocates, fostering compassion and responsible pet ownership among children.
