I think middle schoolers are perfectly capable of researching on their own
Kids seem to be best if they have the ability to research things a little more on their own. It always felt difficult for myself when I was young to learn from the teachers in the school. I see this with many young ones as well. If you discover things on your own that is a little easier to fit their personal learning style, it just is so much easier to understand and digest than something that might be too difficult to understand right from how the teacher or even a book may present it.

I believe they will learn more. Looking for and obtaining the information you need is one way in which to learn new knowledge. If you just get told everything it’s like a lecture class and we all know how much we retained from them
